Dr Jemma Hogwood
Consultant Pschologist
Dr. Hogwood trained as a Clinical Psychologist at University College London in the United Kingdom. She has worked extensively with children and families in a wide range of mental health settings. Her particular interests include working with children and young people who have been bereaved and children with chronic illnesses.
Her Doctorate research focused on adolescents in London living with HIV. She is now living in Rwanda working with student genocide survivors and learning how to adapt Western psychological methods to the Rwandan culture.
Jemma’s work with RFJ includes training students that are currently in the Clinical Psychology Program at the National University of Rwanda. In a seminar setting, separate from their studies at the University, her training focuses on techniques to deliver counseling to children that have been victims of child sexual violence. She is also working with other RFJ staff in Rwanda on the development of the intake protocols and counseling model that will be utilized at the Humura Centre.
