David has had a varied career starting off as a Music Lecturer specializing in Popular Music and Music Psychology.  David Lectured in the UK at Leeds College of Music and Leeds Metropolitan University before obtaining his degree in Law in 2006. He worked at an International Law Firm, Eversheds LLP, in the Recovery and Insolvency Departments gaining experience in Civil Litigation in what is the Country’s Largest Law Firm. 

 

David also trained at Camidge & Co Solicitors in the UK, where he worked on a case which set legal precedent.  During law School, David became interested in Human Rights and worked Pro Bono at Eversheds LLP for Asylum Seekers in the UK.  His work there dealt mostly with Appeal Cases where legal aid is not available to applicants.

 

In 2009 David moved to Rwanda to begin Humanitarian work in the field of Music and Therapy and helping vulnerable Orphans and Widows. He also conducted research into establishing a Legal Aid Pro Bono section of a Commercial Law Firm in Rwanda.  David  opened Orphan Headed Households and the IWACU Centre , a drop-in facility for street Children in Huye. This was accomplished through a partnership with Level 8 Charity in Scotland and the Huye District. 

In 2011 David became the Country Director of Rwanda for Justice and is based in Rwanda. His duties include setting up and managing projects and developing and managing government partnerships on the ground to facilitate project development and implementation. The first of these is the Humura Centre, a  response Centre for Sexually Abused Children located in Huye. 

David is also Head of Arts Curriculum at National University of Rwanda. ​ 

 

David holds a BA (Hons) in Music, MA in Psychology of Music and a Graduate Diploma of Law.
